Kranidi windmills

Three recently renovated windmills stand imposing on a green hill to the right of the picturesque village of Kranidi.

Waving from the distance, these beautiful tower mills invite guest for a travel through the time. The inhabitants constructed the windmills using wind driven wheels for milling grain.

Every windmill was built from bricks and then it was whitewashed. It had a metal cone shaped roof in the form of a small tower. A cloth cape with is twisted on the axis hanging out of the tower. The windmill has two impressive millstones, one on top of the other, grinded the grain.

Today, the municipality uses the windmills as a venue for its summer cultural events.
